True expertise with animals comes from a lifetime of dedication, curiosity, and hands-on experience. My journey with the animal kingdom began when I was a seven-year-old girl successfully breeding South American Cichlid fish, and I have been raising, breeding, and caring for animals ever since.
My family has always shared a deep connection to animals. In Maryland, my grandmother, Betty Worthington, was the breeder behind Jameela, the remarkable Thoroughbred who made history as Maryland's first Maryland-bred millionaire racehorse. Jameela earned an impressive $1,038,704 during her racing career, was named Maryland-bred Horse of the Year in both 1981 and 1982, and was inducted into the Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame in 2013. She was one of my grandmother's final homebred Thoroughbreds, making her legacy an especially meaningful part of our family's history.
Growing up surrounded by pet horses gave me an early appreciation for pedigrees, bloodlines, and structural anatomy. Building on this family connection, I spent much of my life training and caring for our family pets, including dogs, cats, and horses. Outside of our animals, I grew up enjoying the outdoors, boating, and camping.
Over nearly four decades, I have developed hands-on experience and a deep appreciation for many different animal species. Growing up between two households following my parents' divorce, I cared for a variety of animals at different homes throughout my life—not all at once. My experience includes large, intelligent avian species such as African Grey parrots and cockatoos, farm poultry, and an extensive variety of reptiles, ranging from land tortoises to large monitor lizards, including Nile and Savannah monitors.
Dogs have also been an important part of my life. Over the years, I have raised and cared for purebred German Shepherds, Labradors, Maltese, Cocker Spaniels, mixed-breed dogs, and a wolf-hybrid dog.
My journey in marine aquatics began in 1999. Over the following two decades, I developed extensive experience managing delicate marine ecosystems and mastering the water chemistry required to maintain them. This included hands-on coral aquaculture and the propagation of SPS, LPS, and soft corals. Following our move from Virginia to Florida in 2021, I placed my marine aquatics hobby on a temporary break to devote my full attention to my exotic felines.
While my foundation was built through real-world experience, I also pursued formal education in science and design. I originally studied Veterinary Medicine with a focus on Veterinary Technology before earning my degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, Interactive Design, and Photography.
Combining my artistic education with college electives in Zoology, Marine Biology, and Psychology gives me a unique perspective when evaluating animal structure, behavior, visual characteristics, and breed standards. My background in design and photography also influences how I appreciate and document the distinctive patterns and physical characteristics of these remarkable cats.
My journey with hybrid felines is backed by decades of personal experience. I welcomed my first pet Bengal in 2008 and launched my official Bengal breeding program in 2014. Before registering my program, I carefully selected foundation cats while extensively studying the breed standard and the qualities that define an exceptional Bengal.
In 2020, I expanded my vision by launching our Savannah program, anchored by our beautiful F2 Savannah female, Serafina. As the mother and cornerstone of our Savannah lineage, her striking wild appearance and wonderful temperament helped establish the foundation of our program.
At Graffiti Spotted Bengals and Graffiti Savannah's I bring together a lifetime of animal experience, a foundation in biological sciences, and a professional background in graphic design and photography. These different disciplines influence every aspect of my breeding programs, from understanding genetics and preserving distinctive coat patterns to evaluating structure, temperament, and overall breed type.
My goal is to produce exceptional Bengal and Savannah cats, while maintaining a strong commitment to health, responsible breeding practices, biosecurity, and early socialization. I believe truly exceptional cats are the result of thoughtful genetic planning, an understanding of animal behavior, dedicated hands-on care, and an appreciation for the artistry of these remarkable breeds.
